Horseshoe Crabs and The Test of Time

Millions of years ago I first derived,
A new friend to earth as I swam with the tide.

My looks are peculiar and not so appealing,
My tail looks fierce and sharp yet, looks are deceiving.

I'm really misjudged by my creepy crustacean looks,
I'm not very harmful yet; my claws look like hooks.

I eat as I scurry along the oceans and bays.
When the waves flip me over I don't know night from day.

Through many of nature's storms and trials I have survived,
by the help of human hands I will not have to die.

I do not want to leave earth’s comfortable home,
I could become extinct to leave no ancestors to roam.

Reach down and turn me over point me back towards the sea,
So I can live in the ocean and return to my family.
